Local Family Introduces Tapville's Tech-Forward Restaurant Concept to Revitalize Geneva's Historic Building

Tapville Social, the innovative tech-forward food and beverage franchising concept, is excited to announce the addition of a Geneva, IL restaurant at 101 W State St. Previously, this location was home to The Little Owl Eatery. The sale of the building is expected to close in late August, and Tapville looks to open in early 2024.

Local Geneva family, The Smiths, are the franchisees opening the downtown Geneva location. “We are very excited to open Tapville in Geneva,” says Brittany Balassone and Michael Smith.

“Geneva has such a rich history, and this building specifically has played a big role in the community throughout the years. Bringing a tech-forward concept into a Historical building in the heart of Geneva is something we are very proud of. Creating a social atmosphere paired with experiential dining in a community like Geneva feels like the perfect combination for this location. We are also excited to partner with local businesses to highlight different food and drink options in such a unique way. Having this technology really allows us to innovatively adapt to the customers and community feedback to bring forward to best possible experience, with a concept that is unique to anything that Geneva currently offers.”

Joseph Tota, CEO of Tapville said, "We are thrilled to announce our new location in the heart of Geneva, IL's historic downtown. The marriage of our tech-forward restaurant concept with the charm and character of the building we'll occupy creates a perfect blend of old-world ambiance and modern innovation that will truly resonate with Geneva's wonderful residents, offering them a unique and immersive dining experience like no other.”

Tapville Social is a socially-driven dining concept that features cocktail flights, boozy brunches, a self-pour tap wall, and an American classic menu. Well known for creating fun and engaging culinary events to unite friends and family, many of these events, including Tapville’s signature “Cupcakes & Cocktails” pairing, involve partnering with other local food and beverage businesses to create unique circumstances in each market.

The site that will play home to the future Tapville Social also called the “Old Corner,” and The Wrate Block building dates to 1853. The building has a long history of service to the community in many forms, such as a post office, barber shop, attorney office, and newspaper publishing house; in 1906, the Simon family opened and operated Simon’s Dry Goods for over 50 years.

The future Tapville space most recently housed The Little Owl, which opened in 1935. It served as a beloved establishment for over eight decades, offering delicious food, drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere, a tradition the brand looks to continue. The building's historical significance, recognized by its inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places, adds a touch of grandeur and nostalgia.

Tapville Social promises to be a unique and engaging destination, combining the best elements of a craft beer bar, social club, and entertainment venue. The tap wall will include an extensive selection of craft beers, supporting local independent breweries.

With Tapville Social's self-pour system, guests can sample a variety of craft beers and ciders at their own pace without the need to wait for a bartender to serve them. Beer enthusiasts and novices alike will be treated to a delightful array of flavors and styles, ensuring there's something for every palate.

Imported from Tuscany, Enomatic self-pour wine machines revolutionize the wine-tasting experience, empowering enthusiasts to savor various wines and indulge in precise, personalized pours. This innovative technology enables users to dispense wine by the ounce, offering the flexibility to sample different vintages and varietals without committing to a full glass.

At Tapville Social - Geneva, connoisseurs will embark on a delightful journey through the world of wine, exploring diverse flavors, aromas, and regions at their own pace. Tapville Social is more than just a restaurant; the brand aims to foster community, offering a place where friends, families, and neighbors can come together to relax, unwind, and connect. The venue will provide a warm and inviting ambiance, with cozy seating areas and a friendly staff dedicated to ensuring an exceptional experience.
